Gotta Start Somewhere

So Ive never reallly been a huge holiday ( other than Christmas, of course) decorator until pretty recently.
I love to for Christmas, but otherwise its just general Spring, Fall, Winter decor for me!

Since you caught a glimpse of the START of my St. Patty's day Decor in my TableTop Post... I Thought I'd share a little closer up.

I Love letter blocks... Cant help it!!
Adorable Paper from Craft Warehouse
Scarves and all Floral also from Craft Warehouse

Left my Pretty Paper Flowers from Vday up, just took the red one down...

And used Mod Podge, Distress Ink and some moss to make this little frame

I used to leftover moss from my Tabletop arrangement....

Of course I had to add a little red, Im a rebel like that.
I also wear a little on St. Patty's Day... I like those pinches.

I seriously scored at Craft Warehouse that day... and found everything I needed...
And can you believe all the stems and greenery in here cost me less than $10!!

Need a New Idea for your Tabletop?

I did too...
I am so bored with regular tablerunners and tableclothes, so I wanted to try a different Idea...

I think Im likin it, too!
Layering Scarves... I figure... "Hey, I like to wear them layered, why wouldnt my table!"

These solid scarves come in every color ( seriously.... like 20 colors!) at Craft Warehouse and are super cheap.... ( Ive always seen them 2 for $10 ).
They are very nice quality... super soft and look nice and thick.
I picked up a few and so far have used them for my Valentines tabletop,

and now my St. Pattys as well!

I also picked up a couple Spring-y colors while I was at it ;)

What do you think?

Wordless Wednesday

Mid-Week Cuteness.

Fancy Shmancy Ribbon Holder...

Geez what a pain it has always been for me to look for ribbon!
Before, it was all just stored in a plastic tote and it really was annoying to go through it whenever I needed something.

I had been keeping my eye out for awhile for something I could use to nicely, neatly store it and FINALLY found something (ahem, last month) recently at DI.
( yes, took me this long to post it)

And for $6.00. Score!

I had my idea in my head of exactly what I wanted so I sanded her down, measured and drilled some holes for 3/8" dowel rods to go through
( this size will fit most all ribbon spools)

I got mine at Craft Warehouse for Cheapo!

This baby's new home is im my front office/craft storage area
( I am not one of those lucky ones who have a dedicated crafting room)

I decided to go matchy matchy and did the same white that I did my last Frames with.. just distressed this time.

Very first attempt at sewing clothing

Well, I can almost promise you one thing, Mr. FabuLESS....
I will NOT be saving us all kinds of money by making our own clothes!

Christine ( you know, the Krazy Craft Lady) and I decided to try our hand at it, and while they did come out pretty cute... Not something I think I will be making lots of.

Baby T has this super cute little dress

that we thought would be SOOOO easy to make our own pattern for, and just "Sew up Real Quick.."
And so we started in....
We sketched and cut out our own patterns,

And guessed to how to piece it together from there.
I found the easiest way was to piece together all three front and all three back, then sew the two together.

Anyhoo

I tried my very best to get pictures of her wearing it, but my little model did NOT want to hold still, even with some M & M bribery.

Most of my pics of her in this little dress looked like this

(see that little foot in the very corner, running away? She was just too quick for the camera!)

But here is the dress...

The straps are too long and WAY too much skin is showing, so I plan on moving the buttons up a bit on the strap, and wearing a T-shirt underneath
This SUPER cute fabric is from Craft Warehouse, BTW

But little miss naughty got extra silly in her dress... I think she liked it!

Ok,ok... that or I gave her too many M & M's!
Stinker

Check out how I made those matching leggings here
Oh ya, and go visit Christine... I love her ( so will you!)

Why buy the cow, when the milk is NEARLY free!

I have a love affair.
My little affair began while I was preggo with Baby T, and it continues today. Before she came along, I really maybe had only seen them a couple times, but then, I really wasnt looking... Sweet Beau is totally understanding, and even supports this affair, because it really is so cute.

Babylegs.

They fill our sock drawer, and are worn with most all sissy's outfits that aren't pants. We wear them on her legs, on her arms, with skirts and tutus or just with a diaper cover... They are fanstastic. They are adorable.
They make her chubby (I pretend they are chubbier than they are... I love squishy thighs!) little thighs look oh so squishable!
Because I love them so much, I watch sales and buy them then... but even with sales, these babies add up quick!
And so I began making my own!

Wanna learn how??... Ill teach ya! Best part... You'll save more than half the cost of buying them, can coordinate with outfits easier - AND it takes less than 10 minutes!
Go find yourself some super cute- adult knee-high socks
On these particular pairs I spent $4/each... They were buy one get one free at Fred Meyers.. But I have gotten some of my favorites at Target and the Dollar Store.
(average name brand leggings cost $12-15)

First your gonna cut the foot from the 'leg part' of the sock
And then take the foot, and cut out the insole section - toss the toe and heel - you wont need them...
Fold the center part to make a cuff, with the ugly side of the fabric toward the inside
Stick the tube of a sock you have made into the inside of your cuff, so the cut edges are all on one side

You will have 6 rough edges pointing the same direction...

For this next part, you can hand or machine stitch it closed... if you hand sew, do super close stiches...
I used my machine and took the tray off so it was a thinner part for the legging to wrap around - much easier to sew them that way... and doesnt stretch it out so badly

I wish I had a serger so my edges came out nicer - but its ok.. no one will no its there but you...
Flip your cuff... and there ya go!

How easy was that?

Heres a few others I have made...

PS.
I made these purple leggings to go with the cutest little dress I made for her....
My VERY first attempt at sewing clothing!!
Heres a sneak peek
Ill share that with ya soon ;)
